DESCRIPTION
A year after the success of the ref. 5060, Patek Philippe chose to update and expand the Aquanaut collection. Three new models were introduced: the 5064, 5065, and 5066, each adding a unique touch to the Aquanaut family. The ref. 5064 featured a practical quartz movement, the 5066 retained the design of its predecessor but with an open caseback, and the 5065 offered a larger version of the original design.
The refs. 5066 and 5065 are often considered the quintessential and most sought-after neo-vintage Aquanauts. The 5065 took the original design from the prior year and enlarged it to 38mm, earning the nickname "Jumbo" Aquanaut. Meanwhile, the 5066 kept the same size and movement as its predecessor. Both models introduced a sapphire caseback, offering a view of their inner mechanics—an upgrade from the earlier ref. 5060.
